The ASET Level 2 Certificate for CCTV
Operatives (Public Space Surveillance)
is designed to equip learners with the
necessary knowledge, understanding and
skills to competently operate a CCTV
system and to address the licensing
requirements that will come into force in 2006.
This qualification will:-
• Provide underpinning knowledge
and understanding of the relevant
legislation and company policies
required of a CCTV operative
• Develop learners’ understanding of
why CCTV is used
• Develop the skills required to
manipulate and process imagery from
CCTV systems
• Develop understanding in how to
prioritise and deal with incidents as
they arise
• Raise the awareness of the learner
of the importance and credibility of
their role

LO1: Explain the purpose of a CCTV system
LO2: Identify features and functions of a CCTV system
LO3: Describe the relevant legislation,
codes of practice and company
policies relating to the role of a CCTV operative
LO4: Apply Health and Safety within a CCTV operation
LO5: Describe the day-to-day responsibilities for an operative
of a CCTV system
LO6: Explain CCTV surveillance techniques
LO7: Process CCTV imagery for use as
evidence by external parties
LO8: Describe how CCTV imagery may be presented as evidence.

Assessment
Externally set and assessed multiple choice questionnaire and internally set and assessed practical competencies, which are externally moderated.
